If anyone thinks the 60s were all Austen Powers and Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice they should go watch the first half of the Deer Hunter.

Exactly. You tell 'em 🙂 👍

The Baby-boomers are roughly anyone born between WWII and 1965.
Two subsets, those before 54-55, and those after.
I'm of the second part (late 54), we are said to be the younger siblings of the older. Too young to go to that war in SE Asia but still affected by older relatives and neighborhood 18+ going. Too young for the counter culture but still affected by the music and dress. Too young for a lot of the active protesting, but still part of the generation that did. And while the males still had the spector of the draft notices coming in the mail at 18, the females were beginning to be told one didn't have to marry-stay home-raise a houseful of children.

Pluto in Virgo changed technology and helped to complete many of Pluto in Leo's ideas, without as much fanfare. They also rebelled against the glamour of the previous generation, but many of those had Uranus conjunct Pluto in Virgo. Even if they deny it, many of them do like order/structure, at least the ones without the Uranus conjunction.

Neptune, meanwhile, was moving through Leo for most of the 1920's, facilitating the idealization of Leo-like individualism.

That explains why the 1920's had a "fun" vibe about it!

And why that "fun" vibe is the part history remembers most.

There was also plenty else going on in the 1920s, as there is in any era, and not all of it was fun. But the fun vibe is what pop culture immortalized from that era, and the main idea usually given that topic in history books.

The "Roaring Twenties"! Did an astrologer choose that appellation for the Neptune Leo transit?

Ha, maybe!

Certainly no coincidence.

And, how about the "Soaring Sixties", with the Eagle for Neptune in Scorpio?

Were the sixties ever really called that? I've never heard that before.

The Neptune in Scorpio era did include the first space flight and the moon landing.

Neptune in Capricorn truly made music superficial and commercial in the 1980's. Neptune in Capricorn was around 1984 to 1998!
The Baby Boomers were in charge fully by the late 1980's!

The Moon landing was right at end of the Neptune's transit through Scorpio. And, yes, "Soaring Sixties" was pertaining to the Moon landing, (NOT to soaring high on LSD, which was also happening).

So, again relating the Eagle to the "higher level of Scorpio", there is a famous saying by astronaut Neil Armstrong when he first walked on the Moon:

"The Eagle has landed!"

The Moon landing was right at end of the Neptune's transit through Scorpio.

But the first space flight was in 1961, when Neptune was in mid Scorpio.

The Neptune in Scorpio era was also when a large number of colonized African countries declared independence. Freedom movements. Which were often plagued by clandestine attacks from agencies like the CIA and corruption within the new governments.

Neptune was in Sagittarius from around 1970 to 1984! Sounds right! A lot of religious cults and stuff around that time! Also the hippie look of the 1970's reminds me of Sagittarius!

The Disco era! Showing off your clothes and your dance moves. High energy. Cocaine. And astrology was being discussed on the radio. Lots of astrology.
And, the New Age Movement. The end of the Draft and the Vietnam War.

Yes, end of the draft so lots of partying with Neptune in Sag. Lots of cocaine (Neptune=drugs) in places like Studio 54! It has been said people wanted to forget what they went through for 11yrs so it was time to just dance away the sorrows. People lost trust in the Watergate scandals with a president resigning as well.

Possibly also, the Eagle is also the symbol for America; America has landed on the Moon....

The 'Narcissistic' energy in the US definitely began during the Silent Generation, or Baby Boomer, generation! So, Pluto in Cancer, or Leo?
Probably Pluto in Leo. It's been the "me - me" years... for sure and the older Politicians show us this without doubt. Of course some of them are Pluto in Cancer but very few left. Pluto in Cancer I think is more about the "homeland", WW2 and protectionism of the homeland. But otherwise, I agree with you entirely, it was much harder to be gay, to be black. You just didn't "come out" as a gay person, at least my friends didn't as teenagers so that was sad. I lived in those times, during the 1960s trying to go to work, drive to work during the race riots when MLK Jr was assassinated. The big cities were put on fire. during MLK Jr' assassination. People were very angry, the opposite of what his teachings were. Sad times. He was more of a Buddhist persuasion then Christian although of course a Christian pastor in his spare time. A few years earlier, I was 16 but working in an Insurance Co. when JFK was assassinated and the newsboy on the corner was selling the paper and yelling the headline, so I went down and purchased the paper for the office bosses. :( We all cried. We all went home early that day. And just a few years later RFK (Bobby Kennedy) was running for President in California) and was assassinated. I was in bed and the clock-radio went off, so I heard it on the radio. Just shocking again.I still think the killer was paid by someone however to take the entire fall.

Our country really needs another like Martin today imo. desperately - with his Ideals. We've lost our way.

Another idealist who grew to prominence in this country who has never been replaced much like MLK Jr. was Cesar Chavez - Ironically, he too practiced Buddhism like MLK Jr. and they both communicated and appreciated each other looking up to each other.
Was it by chance that both of these great men had elevated Pisces planets (Chavez had Jupiter in Pisces and MLK had Venus in Pisces and
Moon in Pisces)
and both of them Cardinal Sun Signs - one being a Capricorn (MLK Jr.) and Cesar Chavez Aries Sun - both Leaders of large groups of people in their time - Chavez perhaps less known elsewhere in the world started Unions for produce workers in California when they had none and workers taken advantage of were treated quite shabbily.

Both were born at the end of Pluto in Cancer generation. Probably like JFK, RFK (his brother, the Attorney General) and others in Government in the 1960s who helped them because they both were so admired by them and the masses.
