My chart ruler, which is the traditional ruler of my ascendant (Pisces), is in my 6th. This ruler also rules my midheaven (Sag), so as you can see it's incredibly important in my chart. To make matters worse, my Sun, which is the sole dispositor of my chart, is also in the 6th. And I have to say that I fit the text book definition of someone who has achieved absolutely nothing with her life. I am not trying to find excuses for myself; I am not saying that it's the planets' fault that I have turned out the way I am. Nevertheless, I do think it's worth looking into. I just seem to really lack ambitions and I am easily satisfied. I just need enough money to live on and I have no need for much else.

Do you also have your chart ruler in a cadent house? How has your life turned out? I really think that if they did a large-scale study on people's life trajectories, they would find fewer successful people who have their chart ruler in a cadent house. Everything else being equal, of course.

I agree with what you say. I have 5 of the 10 modern planets in cadent houses including Sun, Moon, Mars and Saturn. I can say that I've never had any ambition. Don't really know what it is. As I grow older, I am not sure it is really anything that I want, but even if I did, it isn't in me, isn't available to me.
Although I have had no ambition, I have had some success, sometimes great, sometimes abysmal, but certainly enough for me. Whatever success I have known is likely reflected by the ruler of my Ascendant and MC being dignified and in the 10th, although largely unaspected.
So, wan, I hear you loud and a clear. We are sisters in this regard.
I would suggest, tho, that equating a lack of ambition and success with not amounting to much in life may bear some consideration? Might be worth looking at what brings you to that conclusion?
I am not sure that equation is necessarily true, my friend.
Happy new year.

We are astral sisters, sister.

Hi Wan,
Your natal chart is also your avatar, yes?
You include the outer planets, yet speak only of the 'traditional' ruler of Pisces. Do you not place any value upon Neptune, modern ruler of Pisces, in the 9th house, also in a cadent house, and conjunct M.C? It makes a trine to the 6th house Sun. 'Sacrificial service of the self for the greater good (Sagittarius) ? Neptune doesn't seek fame for itself, rather than to serve humanity.

I don't know if I am remembering correctly, but weren't you employed in a field of medicine? My son is of the Neptune in Sag. generation, Neptune in 10th, and is in the 'helping profession'. He has never been ambitious, only in the sense of doing his job well.

I have Mercury, ruler Asc. and M.C., in cadent 9th house. My business life was linked to the 'foreign' communication fields, in statistics of shipping, foreign correspondence, currency exchange, and ending in a 5-star hotel. Never ambitious yet I was seen daily. I worked because I enjoyed the contact with people; such a Mercury trait.
Maybe Neptune as modern ruler Ascendant allows you to be seen in a manner which means much to many ,yet of which you are not consciously aware in yourself.
