I was reading this article on Astrology Musings for cookbooks, it relates to this thread. We must be all on the same wavelength in astro-space at the moment, similar topics sometimes appear in synchronicity. For example, a topic will be raised and I will shortly read something directly relating to the topic, maybe on the day or a day later. Perhaps it's raised awareness, or indeed the universe is synchronising. However, if looked at another way - when I buy a new dress or new car, you begin to notice every person who wears the same dress or drives your particular make of car. At other times they fade in the background unnoticed.... The mind is a powerful thing....I bet nobody gets what I am going on about again. I get it, maybe that is all that matters .

But, as you say, Shiny......Are we noticing something because of thinking about it; thinking about something because of noticing it or noticing/thinking about it because of something?

I particularly like the following paragraph from your linked article :-

I was reading this article on Astrology Musings for cookbooks, it relates to this thread. I know I may be slightly off-topic with this post, but I could not resist to note: yesterday afternoon I have been reading an article about the much debated 100th Monkey Theory of R.Sheldrake and the correlation to Jung's collective unconscious. For whom is not familiar with the relative experiment, I would summarize the aphorism as follows: when a knowledge, skill, or attitude is adopted by 1/10 of the square root of a certain population, then this specific number of population constitutes the critical mass for the adoption of given attribute by the complete population and the formulation of a new morphic resonance. What is more interesting, he proved that the attribute is adopted by the full population even if the members have no direct contact, proving therefore Jung's concept of collective unconscious. Synchronicity may therefore be the expression of the hyper-memory and the "Soul of the World" as named by Plato.

I do, I do!! This is very typical for instance when you would like to start something new. You dont know where to start, but all of a sudden your eyes fall on a book in a bookstore which deals with this subject. My daughter wanted a certain car. All of a sudden she sees that car everywhere.I desperately need a certain product and what do you know, my girlfriend happens to tell me about it the day after, without me having mentioned it.Things like that. It is a common occurrence.
We just have to be aware of the signs that are given to us.

Awareness is powerful when you think about. Is it a coincidence, or did my thinking lead me to be powerfully aware of the event, book, movie etc. It feels as if it is synchronized, yet awareness plays a major part.

I will have to check out the article, I am not sure I understand it all, and it sounds fascinating . What I hate is when you have a good idea and you think it is new, and your excited about it, and then you google the idea, and there are this many hits 56656788999886765. It drives me mad, and it seems the same ideas are out there but reformulated. Is this part of the collective unconscious. It makes you feel like you are all just little tiny heads connected to a main source. How many ideas are original these days? Can't be many, if your tuned into the collective like musicians or inventors perhaps they tune into to something that is in all our souls, on all our minds. I have definitely lost people now, in this train of thought. I will definitely read up more about this.

I am wondering whether we all get plugged into something larger, or whether because we only discussed "cook books" on the forum I am attuned powerfully to anything that mentions cook books. Perhaps you are right and it is collective unconscious.

Exactly that, I am glad people understand, it feels less lonely . I am torn now, part of me believes it's heightened awareness, and another part believes in the Jung's synchronicity. I do believe if I never thought of it, I wouldn't really make a connection between the two things, the dress or the car, article, the idea or book etc.

The oracle tells Neo to be careful with the vase, however she drives us all mad when she says "would you had still knocked it over, if I hadn't said anything" or something to that effect. One does not exclude the other! The article I have been reading was finishing in saying that by making part of the collective unconscious we are led exactly into a higher awareness: sooner or later one of us will become the 100th Monkey to constitute the critical mass for attuning the collective unconscious into a new sphere of a better world... a New Age, Aquarian world
