Title. I like drawing comparisons between astrology and psychology and relating the former of a person to the latter and vice versa as it can really show a lot about the person, and I enjoy this forum section, but trying to make them truly two parts of the same thing is impossible and ridiculous. Ever since I left the beginner phase of astrology I had trouble taking anything Liz Greene said seriously except as a seriously widespread nuisance. I'm just being honest. Modern astrology doesn't seem very rational to me. Prove me wrong. I'm not trying to be a troll or the likes, but I like a good debate, and turn the heat up while while you're at it. It might just be my effective Libra Moon (not effective from the perspective of most) and un-debatable Mars in the same sign causing this.

I'm trying not to reject anything outright with regard to astrology at the moment. Currently, I'm looking into asteroids. Most people reject astrology as nonsense; as someone who believes in it, I think it behoves me to keep an open mind about all the different schools of thought in it.

I'm no fan of Ms. Greene, either, Rebel. I much prefer Howard Sasportas and Stephen Arroyo's psych perspectives on Astrology.
That being said ~ what and who's facts are we talking about? And what do you find ridiculous about the inter-relatedness of psych and astro?
I look to astrology for what others' motivations are and to hopefully gain insight on one's capacity for and orientation toward personal/emotional changes and growth, which leads to, hopefully, a more fully actualized person. The facts behind where we come from, how we see our place in the world and the circumstances in our life that have formedthe ways we make decisions for ourself. Basically, one's M.O.
the facts are relevant only to the point of how we got to we are. Inspiration, aspiration, hopes, faith and some modicum of personal truthfulness have nothing to do with facts, in my opinion. Those are powerful abstracts in a person's psychology and I use Astrology as a tool of intuition to hopefully help myself and others figure ourselves out so that we can move to new dimensions of self-awareness and understanding.
I'm of the opinion that traditionalists were not focused on the person's psyche, but more interested in predictive methods for wordly gains, not psychological. Modernists have allowed us to understan our attitudes and behaviors toward wordly gains throug our personal psychology.

The more I study astrology, the more I feel that the "analogies" and "archetypes" that so many modern astrologers love to use creatively and flowery, are just mere shadows of the true picture. They are like reflections of directions, (you have to read it backwards and upsidown to get the real meaning), I myself have come up with great analogies and images and connections out of my exitement for my hobby, but they are really just an externalization of what my ego is doing 100mph to try to understand and identify myself and others. This is also why I shy away from liz green too, i feel like the images are too limiting and powerful (like childrens picture books, large and shallow rather than broad and deep)

If I keep quiet and centered within, tendencies reveal themselves to me, and then most importantly, FADE AWAY after a certain amount of time, and the ego must surrender that, constantly.

So yeah, awesome that I'm not the only one who feels that way.

I like Robert Hand a lot.

I may be a practitioner but I have a somewhat harder time considering myself a believer. I'm closer to belief than disbelief after all I've seen and read. I do keep an open mind about the different schools of thought but I can outright reject things within those schools of though pretty easily.

I like the inter-relatedness of it, but not the fact that people try to call them the same thing. That's like calling chemistry and biology the same thing. Sorry if I mis-communicated.

@Rushwing - Awesome. Astrology has so many intricacies, and I simply love digging down into the mysteries of it, so obviously I don't like it when people try to make so many shallow generalizations.

Edit: The title is a quote. I have a darn heavy 3rd house making me like a Gemini so I have lots of constantly changing gadgets on my homepage including quotes.
