Hello everybody!!!!

I started studying astrology a couple of months ago and I've learned about every planet, sign, house, dignities and aspects, yet, when looking at a natal chart I don't know where to start. Maybe it's because I'm not too sure what I am supposed to get from a chart, personality traits? Talents? Potentials? Future career or relationships?

I've tried to look at the Sun and the Moon and the ruler of each house and study their position and the aspects they make, but I'm struggling to put everything together. Also I'm not sure about the function of aspects in a natal chart. I read somewhere that positive aspects show talents and potentials but a lack of action, while harsh aspects show the struggle and therefore action and potential for success. But I'm still unable to apply this information to a chart.

Today I've looked at the dignities of the planets in my chart.

My strongest planet is by far the Moon in Cancer in the 4th house. That makes me an extremely emotional person, intuitive and feminine too. In reality I am very emotional on the inside but it doesn't show on the outside. In fact most people, even the very close to me, describe me as very tough, strong and at times cold. And although I am feminine at a first glance, I'm also a tomboy at heart. Does that show in the chart?

My weakest planet is Venus in Scorpio in the 8th house. I have no idea how to interpret that at all. It sextiles Mars and trines the Moon. Again, not sure what to get from that.

Also, Mercury, my L7, is in the 8th house, doesn't aspect any planet and only squares the North Node. Again no idea what that means. Not sure about the function of Nodes in a chart either.

Can anyone help with this but also suggest where to start when looking at a chart, what to look for and focus on?

Thank you!!! :)

The Ascendant is the most important point in the chart (the moment the Nefesh/soul joins with the body, your first breath)

Your Ascendant is almost exact trine Neptune.

Mercury is T squaring your North and south Nodes

Do a little research into the Nodes as the T square with Mercury is an important part of your chart...............

I Stephen,

Thank you for your reply.

I see all the aspects that you've mentioned and all the others too. What I'm struggling with is the interpretation. I did spend all last night researching the position of my mercury and the nodes but was not satisfied with what I found. There are so many different interpretations on the internet and don't know which one suits my chart.

As per my Ascendant...I'm supposed to have strong neptunian qualities...and I am a daydreamer for sure. Intuitive? Not sure, not more than most people I guess. I certainly don't have any artistic talents or creativity, and although it makes me happy to help others I have not taken any action in that direction in my life. So what exactly is my ascendant saying about me?

Made an error with your ascendant it's not trine Neptune, I see your Ascendant is 9 degrees pisces............

I'd take Jupiter as your ascendant ruler which is in Libra. Although ruled by Venus, Libra is masculine, cardinal air sign which would incline you towards going for what you want rather than remaining passive, usually in an intellectual/mental manner. Venus as the ruler means you would more than likely use means of persuasion or alliances to get your way. This is emphasized by the placement in the 7th - house of relationships. Another such indicator is that L1 is conjunct L11 - The native is merged/joined to organizations/alliances/friends.

People get that cold and tough vibe because a very Strong Saturn is conjunct the ascendant ruler - Jupiter. Pisces and Libra are in antiscia so you could say that the Jupiter-Saturn has influences on the 1st (doubly emphasized due to previous considerations.)

You say your Moon is the strongest planet of your chart but you also have a very strong Mars and Saturn - 2 very unfeminine planets. That is bound to tip the scale to a more hardened behaviour pattern.

Further, your Venus is in Martial Sign and is influenced by that same exalted Mars through a sextile relationship - there is an easy blending of Masculinity with femininity. Mars is culminating right there is in MC which makes it more apparent in your life than both Moon and Venus.

Wow! Thank you conspiracy theorist. This resonates with me so much better than when reaserching the meaning of each planet placement.
Thank you.
