Thought I'd post this now as Mars will be entering Cancer as early as September, for a very long stay until next April 2025. Dipping back and forth into Leo along the way.

Where will this occur in your chart? What do you expect to happen?

Here are the dates with degrees, so you can see where everything falls in your chart:

4th Sept - Mars enters 0° Cancer

7th Sept - Mars enters out of bounds at 1° Cancer

17th Sept - Mars leaves out of bounds at 7° Cancer

2nd Oct - Solar Eclipse at 10°04' Libra - square Mars Cancer at 15°47'

5th Oct - Mars enters shadow at 17°01' Cancer

13th Oct
- Mars Cancer square Chiron Aries at 21°15'

3rd Nov - Mars Cancer opposite Pluto Capricorn at 29°46'

3rd Nov - Mars enters 0° Leo

6th Dec - Mars stations retrograde at 6°10' Leo

30th Dec
- Mars enters out of bounds at 2° Leo

3rd Jan - Mars Leo opposite Pluto Aquarius at 1°08'

6th Jan - Mars re-enters 29° Cancer

16th Jan - Sun/Mars opposition marking the halfway point - Sun Capricorn and Mars Cancer at 26°13'

4th Feb
- Mars Cancer square Chiron Aries at 19°36'

23rd Feb - Mars stations direct at 17°01' Cancer

26th Mar
- Mars Cancer square Chiron Aries at 22°00'

7th April - Mars leaves out of bounds at 25° Cancer

18th April - Mars re-enters 0° Leo

Here are the previous dates for Mars retrograde specifically in Cancer.

If you remember what happened then, we may notice similar themes:

Nov 15th 2007 to Jan 30th 2008 - Mars retrograde at 12°27' Cancer, stationed direct at 24°05' Gemini

Nov 28th 1992 to Feb 15th 1993 - Mars retrograde at 27°38' Cancer, Mars direct at 8°40' Cancer

Dec 12th 1977 to Mar 2nd 1978 - Mars retrograde at 11°34' Leo, Mars direct at 22°16' Cancer

Mars's long trip across Cancer, which affects my fourth house, could set up strong feelings and provide focused attention on home and family issues. Particularly in its regressive stage, I predict difficulties in security and domestic life. Key events like the October Solar Eclipse and oppositions with Pluto might bring about radical changes. Staying aware of tension surrounding the Mars-Chiron squares, I seek healing and resolution. This is a time for deep emotional treatment and foundation transformation generally.

This will be entirely in my 7th house, and conjunct my own Mars Cancer, so I will have three Mars returns. I will have Mars enter my 7th house at the start of September, and stay there until mid May 2025 😮 that's nearly 10 months!

Furthermore, Mars becomes my Lord of Year in my annual profections, next March. I was born with Mars stationing in Cancer, went direct only a few hours later!

Definitely the Mars/Chiron squares will be something to bear in mind.

Mars is in fall in Cancer, one of the reasons being that the Cardinal signs seem to symbolise direction in movement. Mars (and Aries) moves forward and straight ahead. Whilst Cancer approaches in a sideways direction. So Mars is thwarted and hindered there in Cancer.

(The other two: Libra moves back and forth, between one and another. Mars is detriment in Libra. And then Capricorn moves upwards, straight up that mountain, Mars is exalted in Capricorn)

With Chiron Aries, the healing involves moving forward, but square to Cancer, a conflict of movement. A block there in movement and healing, could be a theme.

The sideways movement could lead to passive aggression with Mars Cancer, which may counteract with unresolved issues and wounds stemming from assertiveness or lack of it, Chiron Aries.

Well, people who lack assertiveness skills generally can be prone to passive aggression in order to get their needs met (Cancer, ruled by the Moon). So that could be a strong theme with the retrograde. Things could get personal!

Yikes. Buckle up.

I've seen that a natal Mars square Chiron can be a big struggle. Progress sometimes comes in fits and starts--one step forward, 2 steps back.

My best childhood friend has Mars in Aries square Chiron in Cap in her first house.[Chiron conjunct her ASC] She is very ambitious and has had a lot of success but also a lot of false starts and successes that then suddenly falter.

Interesting, very interesting that you mention that Mars in Cancer MIGHT sometimes lead to passive-aggression....I AGREE...but it caused a bit of a kerfuffle with some others when I once said that in a thread full of Mars in Cancer astrologers...lol....it was not a popular sentiment :p

Mars is not very functional in Cancer. At its worst it behaves in a passive aggressive manner here. Regardless of the house Mars is traveling, it is where we fight and become warriors, or the victims of such people. I think Mars in Cancer can provide us with the power to fight like a mother for her child. That would be the best expression. My 11th house will be affected. I suppose I will have to fight for my hopes and wishes.

What I find absolutely fascinating is that Mars will pave the way for Jupiter. Whatever we will have achieved or destroyed during Mars in Cancer, Jupiter will bring coherence to that.

I'm honest, I'm not looking forward to this Mars transit.

That, or maybe there will be significant conflict among your friends, in your social circles, and/or between you and friends.

Interesting thought.

I'm also going to have that transit entirely in my seventh house, where it will cross my Saturn twice and stimulate my t-square of Saturn, Jupiter/Chiron, and Uranus. Interestingly, I just had my solar return and there was a Jupiter/Mars conjunction in opposition to my Moon in that chart. Saturn is my time lord this year. Next year, Jupiter will be, and will be transiting Cancer. So, a lot of Mars and Jupiter plus Saturn for me.

Wow, these dates do all have the same theme for me, 1977-78, 92-93 and 07-08. They were all strong healing times. First one I was real young, but entered a certificate program, yr. long, second was the first year of a 4 yr. cert. program and last went abroad for healing work (spiritual). Pretty wild to see the correlation.
Some of the time, Mars will be trine Mars and at end of cancer, sextile to Sun. Leo stuff, square Merc, oppos. Neptune.. Mars rx times are potent esp. if you're Mars ruled. I always pay attention to these.
Great write up PT.

That sounds like emotinal distress. Mars may challenge your emotional vulnerability through and in relationships. Questions that could arise: How far can I open up? How do I express my emotional, nurturing side? What does emotional weakness mean to me? Mars can be a bit of a cutter and sealer. You might feel agitated and hurt by others' emotional responses, and then realize that you're exhibiting similar behaviors. To be honest, I mainly feel the effects of Jupiter's transits when it's activated by profection. I don't think Jupiter is ineffective, but if you keep in mind that Jupiter provides coherence and cohesion through its size and gravitational pull (otherwise everything would fly apart), Jupiter transits always beg the question: what are the existing components that Jupiter can bring together? . When Jupiter passed through my 7th house (Pisces) in 2021/22, it didn't do much good because at the same time, transit Saturn made a square to my natal Jupiter. Many relationships of all kinds ended. Jupiter couldn't bring anything good from the pieces that were left. It wasn't strong enough to offset Saturn's wintery influence.
I digress.
Jupiter will bring healing into our Cancer house as soon as Mars heads out of the area. It will undoubtedly reveal our nurturing, maternal, vulnerable, and emotional abilities—and the lack thereof.

One thing I've just real about this, and how intriguing it is

Mars is the current ruler of the North Node Aries, but it is in fall in Cancer and due to station retrograde in early December, which hinders the ability to access the current North Node.

The North Node will shift from Aries to Pisces on 12th January 2025. So it could be a feeling of the Aries North Node energies winding down, to make way for the Pisces North Node.

No coincidence that Neptune (the upcoming new ruler of the North Node) will enter Aries (the soon to be previous North Node) in March 2025, dissolving the North Node themes we may have seen when in Aries.

The Mars cancer retrograde will affect mostly my 12th house, since it's a 3 degree cusp. I have natal Mars in cancer retro, and of all the places in my chart - the 12th is the worst as an Extended Stay Mars Motel. Mars Cancer retro in 12th house and Natal Mars in Cancer at 12th cusp. ICK. I remember one other time whenever Mars cancer was retro in my 12th for 6 months - I felt trapped and isolated and lonely - even though I had a job, friends and co workers and an active gym and excercise regime and even dated a couple times during that period. It was like running chest high through a swimming pool. It was an exhausting period. Little joy. So I started day dreaming about leaving the rains and clouds and grey of my town and head for sunshine and beaches where I grew up. Once Mars finally busted out of jail and crossed my Sun ruled ascendant, a lot of really great things and wonderful changes occurred, all from my own volition. It was awesome. But when you're in the mist of it, it sucks.

Mars's Rx station will be square my very volatile Mc. With my time lord Venus at an anaretic degree conjunct Pluto
Luckily I'm used to volatile energy, so bring it on. It's like water off a ducks back to me :giggle:

Bumping this up, Mars stations retrograde in a few hours!
I was just reading in another thread about everyone wondering why all these tragic weird things were happening to everyone....maybe the stationing Mars as it is also opposite Pluto, which is also changing signs?

One of our good friends---their son was in a bad car accident, was cut off by a speeding driver. He is in ICU, will make it, but it will be long rehab from many broken bones.
Another friend had a weird house fire---electrical which started in garage but soldered all night and they lost half to their house. Luckily no one hurt.

Just seems like there was weird energy all Thanksgiving week, for a lot of people that I know.

Leo is in my 4th, conjunct my IC, so my home and my inner circle was feeling that weirdness, I guess?

After reading of the mysterious flu-like disease that has killed dozens in Congo I've decided to look at the country's chart and noticed that Marrs has turned retrograde exactly on Congo's natal Mercury - hopefully this will not escalate into a more serious situation...
Have you noticed any other country affected by the station?

Mars will station retrograde as soon as a rare "Red alert" storm rolls in to the UK. Apparently the storm has been described as a "nasty" one! 😮
I hope nothing "nasty" takes place, dear! It is wise to get prepared, make sure siphons are clear and free from leaves etc that can clog them, also check that everything outside is firmly placed and won't go away easily.

In the last storm we had here, my house got flooded, because the violent winds took some items and placed them on the siphon, thus clogged it and water formed a pond in the balcony and then it came into the house!
I was shocked to step in water when I got out of bed the next morning! Thank God I do not have wooden floors!
The last NM was in my 4th. The storm took place on the NM day! There was nothing even close to it in my natal, so I naively thought that nothing would happen!

The rx will take place in my 11th, I hope there is no disruption in my relationship with friends and groups of people.
The good news for me is that the 11th is not an angular house for me!

However, maybe as @Alithjohnson said there can be "difficulties in security and domestic life". More and more people fear the escalation of Ukraine war and from this perspective maybe domestic security is at risk. Mars will turn Direct on the day the Ukraine invasion started in 2022. I hope nothing escalates and that there is no increase in domestic violence against innocent kids and wives. It is not wise for a country to enter a war during Mars rx, even join a war already unfolding.

"Around three million people received a government emergency alert on their mobiles on Friday evening giving advice about the storm." - We received the alarm too while we were having supper -the phone started emitting a scary noise, I nearly had a heart attack! (Well, Leo rules the heart after all). I feel sorry for all those frail, vulnerable and anxious people who received such a scary alarm (unless we are being prepared for WW3 )

I'm not in the red zone, but I still woke up this morning to some stormy weather outside! Rather noisy and blustery!
