I know we are almost half way in, and we have just about seen it retrograde back into Leo, but thought it would be an opportunity to discuss how the Mercury retrograde has affected you so far.

Which house is it occurring in your chart? How have you been finding it?

Here are a list of dates and aspects:

16th July - Mercury enters shadow at 21°25' Leo

19th July - Mercury Leo trines Chiron Aries at 23°31'

21st July - Mercury Leo square Uranus Taurus at 26°33'

25th July - Mercury enters Virgo

5th Aug - Mercury stations retrograde at 4°06' Virgo - conjunct Venus Virgo

15th Aug - Mercury re-enters Leo

18th Aug - Mercury Leo square Uranus Taurus at 27°10'

19th Aug - Sun/Mercury Cazimi at 26°36' Leo - square Uranus Taurus - also Full Moon Aquarius

22nd Aug - Sun enters Virgo - mutual reception with Mercury Leo retrograde

23rd Aug - Mercury Leo trines Chiron Aries at 23°12'

28th Aug - Mercury stations direct at 21°25' Leo - sextile Jupiter Gemini

2nd Sept - Mercury Leo trines Chiron Aries at 22°56'

7th Sept - Mercury Leo square Uranus Taurus at 27°15'

9th Sept - Mercury enters Virgo

11th Sept - Mercury leaves retrograde zone at 4°06' Virgo

My take on it so far, is that it's been pretty volatile!

Mercury has been the ruling planet of Venus Virgo, Mars Gemini, Jupiter Gemini

Both the benefics are in signs of its detriment and fall, Venus in fall in Virgo, with Jupiter in detriment in Gemini.

Mars being a malefic and conjunct Jupiter, aggravating the detriment side of Jupiter.

And all planets listed above are in a T-square with another malefic, Saturn Pisces, which is in a sign governed by Jupiter.

And let's chuck in a square from Uranus Taurus to Mercury, to really improve things (not!)

Mercury when retrograde, does shift into a more creative, subjective, intuitive thinking process, the right brained function.

So things will be taken more subjectively and even personally, especially with Mercury into Leo (rules the heart), which could be literally "taking things to heart"

Jupiter rules moral codes, ethics, beliefs, ideologies. It's faith when there is no tangible evidence, and therefore very subjective. It struggles in Gemini which is about the raw data, logic, objectivity, calling a spade a spade.

Mars would be anger and conflict, confrontational, over those Jupiter themes of morals, ethics, ideologies.

Then Uranus square going all next level, adding disruption, chaos, and really throwing spanners in the works, to make a bad mood even worse! It's the OMG WTF 😮 moment.

So with all of the above, Mercury has been the overarching energy by rulership, the vehicle that's governing the Mutable T-square which has provided the backdrop.

Mercury is firmly in the drivers seat, accompanied by a mightily aggravated Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus as passengers. The worst road trip ever lol. To top it all off, the Satnav has broken!

There tends to be misunderstandings and miscommunication, conversations going awry, in general during an average garden variety Mercury retrograde, but this one appears to be about breakdowns in communication altogether, a pressure cooker of volatile words with no backing down or compromise. Like this jolly bunch of people 😮

Break-ups of all kinds could be likely, if romantically (square to Uranus Taurus, ruled by Venus), with a transit fallen Venus Virgo not offering any assistance either. Although with Mercury retrograde, romantic break ups tend to be done impulsively in haste, only to be regretted later when Mercury stations direct.

The movements of Mercury retrograde/forward are consistent with a change of mind. With Mercury in Leo, a change of heart.

There also tends to be a return of the past of some sort, whether of situations, issues, or even people (Mercury retrograde famous for returns of exes).

However with all the other energies swirling around like an angry whirling dervish, reconciliation seems unlikely, as neither party will see the other person's points of view clearly and objectively.

It may only be until Venus enters the domicile sign of Libra at the end of the month, also when Mercury stations direct and trines Chiron, that we may see some attempts at rebuilding bridges, healing long standing conflicts. And that reconciliation!

Especially as Venus will conjunct both Juno and the Libra South Node shortly after, when Mercury leaves shadow too. Springboarding us into Libra Eclipse season!

Hi Penguin, here I am at last. How tricky to find the way to re-log in!!!
Thank you for this extensive thread. Yes, 7th of September square Mercury/Uranus at 27° Taurus does look well at all...

Seen the general turmoil, more than at personal charts I would suggest it would be interesting if someone here could trace some specific world area which could be specifically impacted by the ugly transit. Some ex astro.forum members were particularly good at that... but I cannot even recall the name...

I'm always relieved when Mercury stations D. It's been tr my 6th trine Saturn, sextile Jupiter, conj Pluto a few days ago. It seems a lot of mental activity lately, trying to re-train some of my thought patterns. In early Virgo, it trined Mercury.
