Those words resonated with me as I read your post, Elianah. I 'see' your Merc shining through!
I'm a Christian American. I am very proud of my heritage as a Southern US female, as well. I also happen to have pride in saluting our nation's flag, singing our national songs, participating in our national holidays and all the other activities that define the individual as an American.
I have always said, "Have a wonderful holiday season!" to those with whom I am unsure of their religious or cultural affiliation. It just seemed more 'open and receiving' a term vs Merry Christmas. There is 'Christ' in Christmas and thus is imposing 'my' belief system on them.

I interpreted a fear within the collective who are revolting against the change. People usually dont like change, period, whether its from within or external forces. Especially if that change is a threat to something like faith or practice of that faith. Fear can manifest as anger and defensiveness. Fear emanates from vulnerabilities.
Humans need a belief system. They need to believe there is something far more vast, lasting, and powerful than themselves. Organized religions defines that and processes a set of doctrines and principles for the peoples to follow.
It is when the individual(s) seek to oppress and reign through that 'fear' then trouble starts. This statement would hold merit with any organized religion.
The Christmas holiday gained popularity in the USA because of the base religion in our country being Christian. These principles compounded and interrelated with Christian immigrants primarily from Europe, who comprised our populations throughout the last 200+ years. The last 40-50 years has brought about a rise in populations of other religions and belief systems. The mass media has opened the door to enlightenment and understanding of other non-Christian belief systems.
I dont think the Christian Coalition or the extreme 'right wing' speak for me as a person. Anymore than a Moslem nation, Jewish nation, Islamic nation or any other 'religion' defined nation could represent me as an individual.
I would like to see religion as a defining factor for any nation become obsolete. The whole world become a giant melting pot collection of people's living together and finding solutions to problems as a collective on the problems, not just based upon their religious principles or beliefs.
I would like to see Americans behaving according to the basic principles of the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. Ya know the part where everyone has the right to:

We have the democratic 'right' to say, "Merry Christmas", but, we also have the responsibility of those rights to recognize other religious beliefs and say, "Happy Holidays" or simply say nothing at all. Which corresponds with what you wrote:
It feels to me like Venus Rx is trying to orchestrate a movement where all humans try to understand their personal values and the worth of their religion to themselves by being in contact with the values of others and seeing the light, harmony and balance in the values of other religions. This does not mean they have to practice them or believe in those other holidays but respect those people who practice and believe in those holidays because they are right for those people. The more centered and grounded one becomes in one's own values and worth, the more one can allow others to have varying values from one's own. If one does not value and find worth in oneself, it is difficult, if not impossible, to value and find worth in the other
I concur with your post, Elianah, in respect to the energies from Venus and Pluto in Sagittarius on the people en masse. I hope we are seeing the end to many dogmas and doctrines that have led many people from different cultures and religions into mass defensiveness and fear.
If indeed religion is designed to 'enlighten' the individual, enlighten by definition; to free from ignorance, prejudice, etc. I dont see the word, 'fear' anywhere in that definition.
