Hello. I am curious to hear about your experience with this placement.

From what I understand 3rd house is the house of Gemini & Mercury, and concerns such matters as:
the mind, communication, thinking, writing, speaking; as well as siblings, neighbourhood, and short trips.

Mercury, while also being my chart ruler, is in Gemini and placed in the 10th H. These are the aspects:
conj. Sun :gemini: 2°09' in 10thH
conj. Venus :gemini: 5°13' in 10thH
trine Saturn :aquarius: 4°11' in 6thH

I have Pluto placed in 3rd House, though. In Scorpio. I know it's a generational planet but for some reason I feel like there might be more to it somehow. Could this be because it's the one and only planet placed in a sign of Water element in my natal chart?
These are the aspects:
square Saturn :aquarius: 2°31' in 6thH
sextile Neptune :capricorn: 2°30' in 5thH
sextile Uranus :capricorn: 3°38' in 5thH
inconj. Mars :aries: 0°05' in 8thH
conj. Nadir :scorpio: 8°50'
opp. MC :taurus: 8°50'

Mercury itself seems in a quite comfortable place regarding the aspects. But then I wonder how the placement of Pluto could manifest regarding the Mercurian matters of 3rd house. Square tends to be a rather difficult aspect, plus in this case it's to Saturn, the 'malefic'. Does that mean Pluto is afflicted?

There is no ONE experience of Pluto in the third house. If you want the one experience then you should find a good cookbook(Pelletier's PLANETS IN HOUSES would work).

It all depends on the power and friction of Pluto, the power and friction of the house, the planets, asteroids, Arabic parts, and fixed stars that aspect both the Pluto and the ruler of the house, and probably some other things that just slipped my mind at the moment.

This is the reason why comparisons like this are really hit or miss things. Astrology is too complicated to really answer your question adequately in the way that you asked it.

But if you were looking for a "pat" answer that you could use, I'm sure that there are many people who would be happy to reply about their own experience. It just won't be much use to you as an astrologer. But as in interested person, I suppose it could be a lot of fun.

Hi. Pluto represents the will to survive. It arises from far below the level of everyday consciousness, but can be experienced with great intensity on the level of everyday consciousness. This will to survive can be experienced as a fear of annihilation and also as an urge to preempt any threat by bringing that which is hidden to the surface to be dealt with in one way or another.

The 3rd house represents experiences of bring someone who can interpret and navigate one's surroundings. So with Pluto in the 3rd, there is a need to interpret what is going on below the surface, and a tendency to associate information with power. Its good for investigating things and for communicating powerfully, but also is inclined to secrecy and a fear that one is undermined by the withholding of information by others.

The 6th house also has to do with using the mind to adapt to life, and Saturn is also defensive by nature, so it is possible that a sense of being under threat causes a rigidity in such adaption, especially if the orb of the Saturn Pluto square is reasonably small. It also suggests great thoroughness in one's approach to learning, and perhaps a strong drive to consolidate one's position through the development of skills.
