Keeping it "political", the Pro-Conservation Party (Democrats) brought back the wolves to Yellowstone. Then the Anti-Conservation Party (Republicans) opened the way to hunting them to extinction again.

One of the last acts of the Trump administration, besides the totally unnecessary executions of 13 Federal prisoners (which had been on hold during the Obama administration), and fomenting the riot at the Capitol Building, was to turn the "protection" of wolves over to the States, with predictable results.

The Biden administration, which has done well regarding red wolves, has been slow to place grey wolves in National Parks back as a Federally protected species, but is very likely to do so before they become extinct again.

I'm not quite sure who is slower. President Biden or AG Merrick Garland. I think it's AG Garland. But from day to day it's a toss up too.

A couple of other legacies of the Trump administration--For the first time, gun injuries were the leading cause of death among children and teenagers.

And, the most riots ever in major cities occurred in 2020. Anybody remember those?

Are you speaking of Elton Musk and Twitter?

I wasn't sure at first - And thinking if it were Putin or Hitler (if he were back) either one could take the money of all the countries in Europe they might confiscate, and become "the richest in the world", but I don't think that alone qualifies them for being allowed a social media platform. Money does not equate with social responsibility.

Right, Musk and Twitter. Are you saying he would require government permission to start his own social media platform?

No of course not. Freedoms to socialize. Rich or poor as long as he, she or they doesn't break any laws. But even then, the Justice Dept. and FCC are slow to act.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that regulates communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable across the United States.

Same too, it Hitler returned, or anyone else living in this country.

I haven't been following Musk.

Musk is trying to make Twitter his own private company by offering more money than shareholders will be able to refuse ("An offer you can't refuse")

He's implying that he won't ban political speech of any sort, and Trump-supporters are salivating at the prospect of Trump getting his Tweet-Powers back.

Well, it it's trump, they will break laws in no time. The only problem I can see is the slowness of the Justice Dept. to act to protect the people from the lawbreakers like last time. How do you see it?

I feel that there is no reason whatsoever that Biden should not ask for AG Merrick Garland's resignation if he is uncomfortable being a prosecutor of politicians who broke the laws. that appears to be his reticence to act.

The Poison Pill? :crying:

https://www.npr.org/2022/04/21/1094020022/elon-musk-twitter-money

Twitter's board already has thrown hurdles in Musk's path. A day after he announced his offer, the board adopted a defensive measure known as a "poison pill" to fend off Musk and give directors more time to consider what to do.
Formally known as a shareholder rights plan, the poison pill would make it more difficult and expensive for Musk, who owns 9% of Twitter, or anyone else to increase their stake to 15% or more. It's designed to ward off hostile moves like making a tender offer directly to shareholders.
But if enough investors find Musk's bid attractive, they could pressure the board to get rid of the poison pill and negotiate with the billionaire.
Musk has said he believes he can "unlock" Twitter's potential by taking the company private and loosening its rules on what users are allowed to post.
Twitter shares were little changed on Thursday. The stock is trading well below Musk's offer price, suggesting shareholders are skeptical about the deal.

I had thought the media platforms were self-censoring when it came to anti-vaxxing and the Big Lie.

Not sure what you mean? I know you have been quite upset about the vaxxing. But most of the media, other then Fox I think has not been upset over how it's presented. I think they too believe its good for you and the public. Is that what you mean? They should have been more in the middle or less biased?

I suppose being human counts. Just like it would be very hard to be unbiased against migration of immigrants fleeing dictators and wars and drug cultures from South America if you really care and have been there reporting on it. It would be hard to separate your feelings from your reporting.

We only had less then 2 years left for getting anything of meaning done. Thats pre-supposing that Republicans will take both the Senate and Congress in 2024 which I think they will. So Biden will be a lame duck type President., much like Obama was for the last 1/2 of his term.

I don't think the Republicans have presented anything whatsoever for the people, the average people that I can think of that will help them in their everyday life. The wall? tax cuts for the wealthy? Thats about it. All I've ever heard is "Impeach Biden, get Hillary and this one and that one". nothing to help regular people - Zero! That seems just fine with their supporters.

ANYTHING openly critical about the vaccines, mandates and masks was on the social media platforms' radar as inappropriate, and probably still is, although I stopped paying attention now that things are quieting down.

I agree the Republican Party has nothing to offer the average American as the Party in power. Tax cuts for the wealthiest, and allowing the corporations to pollute the Environment are at the top of its agenda, along with being anti-voting rights since it's now in the minority compared to Democrats and Independents. It's also the Party of Fundamentalist Christianity, which wants to impose its version of Sharia Law on the entire country.

Every seen Minority Report? I wonder if, in the future, we'll have an algorithm predict potential criminals (everyone not in the in-group obviously) before they're committed.

Wow. Just finished the video. It's not too shocking that blue team justifies tyranny when it's "their side" doing it. Imagine the uproar if the red team started this to hound the blue team?

Wondering if this will push the US toward violence. Or perhaps the numbskulls will keep celebrating government approved Soma and walk happily into a pod to live, strapped to a chair with VR goggles burnt onto their faces.

Never seen Minority Report but read 1984 in high school.

Remember the Ministry of Truth? That's what the O'Biden Marxist Regime has just created with their 'disinformation czar'. (who is so delusional & crazy she makes Rachel Madcow appear sane).:whistling::whistling::whistling:

They are PROUD of having shut down the NY Post story in 2020 before the election, calling it Russian 'disinformation' when it was all true & accurate.:sick::sick:

Back on the "laptop from hell," apparently- Biden notes 50 former natsec officials and 5 former CIA heads that believe the laptop is a Russian influence op.

Trump says "Russia, Russia, Russia."

In the 1984 novel, Winston worked for the MoT where his job was to ban, censor & deflect from ANY writers who said anything negative about the Party!

Sound familar?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

We are literally being run by fascist dictators who find Free Speech the most serious crime to their tyrannical gov't.

Thank God Elon brought Twitter & Trump created Truth Social. We now have those 2 platforms in addition to Rumble, Bitchute, Telegram.

Those who love the Constitution, the Patriots who are fighting to keep 1A, 2A are happy campers these days. Even with their MoT, they can't shut down free speech anymore.:biggrin::biggrin:

What are the 3 slogans in 1984?
War is peace is a slogan, indicating unity in hatred.
Freedom is slavery is another, urging individuals to find themselves in the Party.
The last is ignorance is strength, which means that the Party knows best.

Dr Fauci, expert: we have COVID under control after 2 years and 2 months (and 2 days), but COVID is still circulating and will be with us permanently.

Just when we thought things are getting better than last year and esp. 2020 (or 2019). To clarify in 15 minutes, due to risks of new variants can surpass the year-old developed vaccines, antibody treatments being replaced by antiviral medicines, and our ability to curb previous ones could be a continual problem until Jan 2023 or another prediction: Jan 2024 for both the US and globally.
