Those were State and local riots. States can make their own rules, including mandates and lockdowns.

We elected a Republican President in 2016. A LOT of bad things happened, including the BLM riots, removal of the ban on gain of function experiments, the Declaration of Public Health Emergency, the appointment of a pharmaceutical lobbiest for Sec. of Health and Fauci as Chief Medical advisor, and the rollout of the mRNA shots.....

I WOULDN'T vote Republican! A Democrat is almost always the lesser of 2 evils, using the Preamble of the Constitution as a guide.

And, Bush Jr. was a Republican. Need I say more?

On the other hand, in Canada, because of the way the head of the Liberals is behaving, coupled with the lack of an actual direct vote of the people of Canada, making it impossible to vote him out of office, I'd vote Conservative.

Also, solely because of his insistence on Federal mandates for the spike serum innoculations, which DEFINITELY should have been left up to the individual States, I WON'T vote for Biden if he unwisely decides to run again in 2024.

After the Covid, everyone is trying to financially and emotionally recover. Survival is more imminent in their minds. Friends and family units are broken, the people are tired. Feeling dirty on both sides, things were said, that people may not recover from personally, protesting isn’t in the budget, or the mindset. Protesting is on the news, freedom convoy.😶

Most don’t even know about it. Assisted suicide that is.

Republicans in the House are having trouble electing a Republican Speaker of the House, despite having a 9 vote majority.

There are 20 Conservative Republicans who simply don't want Kevin McCarthy as Speaker, because they believe he's too much of a moderate, willing to engage in bipartisanship.

The problem is, the House can't be "open for business" until a Speaker is chosen, and, there doesn't appear to be a Representative from either Party that can get the 218 votes required.

Former President Trump is urging these Conservatives to allow McCarthy to become Speaker, but apparently they're not in agreement with him about this.

I haven't read that as the reason for these "20 Conservatives" to reject McCarthy, but it sounds likely. They may not have right come out and said it, because it's not a popular viewpoint among most House and Senate Republicans. [Although I just read that Rep. Lauren Boebart did actually give it as her reason, saying she "welcomes the chaos" because it's preventing the House from spending more money on supporting Ukraine. She's also asking Trump to urge McCarthy to step aside after he said they should elect McCarthy.]

But, who else could get the necessary votes?

to be threatened with having his medical license taken away & sent to re-education camp.

Kevin McCarthy's resume in the CA state assembly government is just as controversial, he was elected to US congress and would cause some issues and problems, it's no wonder the house refuses to vote him in. Plus I want to bring up his brother-in-law Bill or William Wages, was investigated for falsely claiming to be a Native American in a now-defunct fake tribal nation (Northern Cherokee in Missouri) and registered his business in Kern county CA a "minority owned" one in the 1990s-2000s to receive a federal government contract to obtain millions of dollars of funding not supposed to go to the wife's family in the Sacramento area (state capital), thus benefiting from ethnic fraud or minority identity theft.
 
Kevin McCarthy--If at first you don't succeed, try-try-try-try-try-try-try-try-try-try-try-try-try-try again! His 20 Conservative opponents are down to 5. Looks like his Trump endorsement is workin'!

Historically, it took 2 months in 1865/66, and 133 tries, before the Speaker was chosen.

I know they got the ability to vote him out with only ONE member bringing forth the Motion.
That's the only reason they voted him in.
They can kick him to the curb if he doesn't follow through on the America 1st Agenda.
DJT told the MAGA 20 to allow McCarthy to become Speaker.......
They met privately earlier.
Now McCarthy is on notice.
Do what we say or you'll be out.
He knows they mean business; they were willing to go on for a long time without a Speaker.
They don't want the Swamp to have control over the Rep majority.

Let's see if McCarthy keeps his promises.

A pro-life group announced on Tuesday that it is hiring private investigators to uncover who firebombed its Buffalo office
in June, citing months of “slow-walking” and “feign[ed] interest” from the FBI as its reason for launching an independent
investigation.

On June 7, shortly after someone leaked the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, shadowy suspects threw Molotov cocktails i
nto CompassCare’s Buffalo office and scrawled, “Jane was here” on the side of the building —
a slogan used to pay fealty to the radical pro-abortion group Jane’s Revenge.
CompassCare said the attack injured two firefighters and caused half a million dollars in damage.
Five months after the attack, FBI Buffalo announced a $25,000 reward to anyone who can give the agency information leading to arrests.

Since the FBI posted the reward, no arrests have been made.
CompassCare is now partnering with the Thomas More Society to hire private investigators and find the perpetrators —
and they “plan to collect the FBI’s reward money to offset their own investigation expenses,” according to the group.
