@JUPITERASC the first two images seem to illustrate the question, and the 2nd image notes the flanking. the flanking is mirrored right. what is the meaning of that?

@waybread no i dont know what antiscia is. and its not what I meant but I am curious about it too. i felt like i kind of understood some of what's in the link but I didn't undrstand what influnce or virtue the sun gives, it says in conjunction but in conjunction of what?? I am assuming the point of the antiscia? So sun in 5 degrees cancer gives virtue and influence to any planet or placement in 25 degres of gemini, or any planet or placement aspecting 25 degrees of gemini. but what is that virtue and influence, and what about opposition and square aspects? they are considered debilitating or is a virtuous interpretation logical?

Infest, maybe you can explain more about what you mean by "mirroring." You seem to have paired adjacent signs.

Or are you thinking of this planetary domicile/rulership "tree"?

Sun Moon

Leo................Cancer

Mercury
Virgo..........Gemini

Venus
Libra.......... Taurus

Mars
Scorpio..........Aries

Jupiter
Sagittarius....Pisces

Saturn

Capricorn.....Aquarius

Read the left-hand column down, and the right-hand column up.

I don't know if he invented this system, but Ptolemy (ca. 150 CE) popularized it in his book Tetrabiblos.

Infest, one more point re: my second post, is that even in Ptolemy's day, astronomer-astrologers worked out which planets were closest to the sun and moon, and which ones were more distant. With Cancer as the summer solstice and the regal sun as the dominant planet, with Leo the hottest month; the order of planets shows increasing physical distance from the sun, as well as increasing time from the summer solstice.

@JUPITERASC the first two images seem to illustrate the question,
okay that's good :)
some clarification regarding the question would be helpful, thanks

yeah i mean why is the order from luminary to saturn mirrored. virgo and gemini are not adjacent for example, but their ruler is both mercury, and both are mirrored in order from a luminary to saturn. libra and taurus mirrored ruler in order is venus etc. is there a word for this mirroring, and why is it so? It;s hard to explain because that's my question, is there a term for mirrored traditional rulership? only aquarius capricorn ruler is adjacnt and the luminaries are adjacent

For traditional rulership purposes, Cancer and Leo are the first signs. Rulers start with the Moon and Sun and radiate outward from that in order of the planets' distance from the sun. So the Mercury ruled signs are on either side of the Moon and Sun ruled signs. Venus ruled signs come next, adjacent to the Mercury signs, Mars ruled signs adjacent to the Venus signs, Jupiter ruled signs adjacent to the Mars signs, and Saturn ruled signs adjacent to the Jupiter signs.

Since we're going in a circle, the gap between signs with a common ruler widens until we get to the Venus and Mars signs and then starts shrinking again. By the time we get to the Saturn signs, the circle closes, making them adjacent to each other.

I don't know if there's a particular name for the "tree" I indicated in post 6. Schematically it ranks planets in order by their spatial distance from the sun and moon, as well as their time distance from the summer solstice. Capricorn beings with the winter solstice, for example.

Leo and Aquarius don't quite fit the model, but hey: close enough.

So Virgo follows Leo. Gemini precedes Cancer. Both get ruled by Mercury as the planet closest to the sun.

The spring equinox rather arbitrarily starts with Aries ruled by Mars, which was the old Babylonian calendar. The autumn equinox then starts with Libra, ruled by Venus.

NOTE :)

SATURN OPPOSES SUN & MOON SIGNS
JUPITER OPPOSES MERCURY SIGNS

MARS OPPOSES VENUS SIGNS

yeah i mean why is the order from luminary to saturn mirrored. virgo and gemini are not adjacent for example,
because
the diagram clearly illustrates
that Virgo & Gemini are BOTH ruled by Mercury
& since Virgo & Gemini signs are NOT ADJACENT
in Zodiac order :)
THEN
their ruler MERCURY is not illustrated as adjacent

but their ruler is both mercury, and both are mirrored in order from a luminary to saturn. libra and taurus mirrored ruler in order is venus etc.
If something mirrors something else
it has similar features to it

e.g. for example is ruled by the same planet
:)

is there a word for this mirroring, and why is it so?
There IS A PHRASE for this "..mirroring.."
the PHRASE is: "..Ruled By The Same Planet.." :)

A WORD is "..OPPOSITE.." aka "..mirroring.." :)
because
the diagram has The Seven Classical Planets
Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn
placed in the order of the SIGNS on the ECLIPTIC
illustrating planetary rulership

ECLIPTIC is aka the Path of the Sun

It;s hard to explain because that's my question, is there a term for mirrored traditional rulership?
Term is: "..FIVE OF THE SEVEN CLASSICAL PLANETS ARE EACH RULERS OF TWO SIGNS.." :)

because
Five planets rule two signs each
Sun & Moon one sign each

By the time we get to the Saturn signs, the circle closes, making them adjacent to each other.

only aquarius capricorn ruler is adjacnt and the luminaries are adjacent
that's because
Aquarius & Capricorn are adjacent signs
& Saturn is their ruler

Cancer & Leo are adjacent signs
& The Luminaries are their rulers :)
