The last in the Aries/Libra axis! The first Eclipse in Libra started last year on 14th October 2023 at 21°9' Libra, think back to what themes would have started back then, and what the ripple effect of that was.

The South Node Libra puts the emphasis on the past, what has also decreased in energy, old patterns of behaviour. This will be emphasised by the square to Mars Cancer, a sign also focused on the past.

Mars rules the North Node in Aries, and Cancer is ruled by the Moon.

Mars Cancer is about nurturing via the drive to protect, think a Mama bear protecting her cubs, not exactly the warm cookies and fluffy kind of nurturing (Although Mars Cancer folk wouldn't say no to a nice cookie!). It's protecting, defending, fighting for the family, the home, the home town, even the home country.

The flip side is that Mars is in fall in Cancer can take attacks (Mars) very personally (Cancer), can be more about attack by defence, can be passive aggressive and oversensitive. It can go on the attack based on events that have occurred in the past, which can manifest as long held grudges.

This will be challenged by the Solar Eclipse in Libra, which has its own army of planets - Mercury and Lilith are conjunct.

Lilith Libra can be about the sense of feeling unaccepted, outcast, ostracised, rejected by the other person, which can result in going on one's own path. With the square to Mars Cancer, it could have black sheep of the family tones. Lilith Libra can be about themes of unpopularity.

Libra is a sign that wants to build bridges, act with diplomacy and etiquette (something Lilith doesn't do!), make amends, come to an agreement, meet half way, and compromise.

That doesn't make Libra a pushover, they can be quite bold, strategic, and assertive when they see what is unfair and unequal, imbalanced. They see both sides of the argument with detachment and hard logic, never bringing emotions into it.

Which is why Libra represents lawyers and negotiators. This would be emphasised by Mercury conjunct, using the mind, words, verbal debates. This can be like a game of chess.

They are good at seeing the other person's viewpoint, which could antagonise the Mars Cancer, who demands loyalty and the emotional components to be recognised. It's hard to see what side Libra is on, which can be misinterpreted as a lack of support (Cancer).

This could be a rather difficult Eclipse, as it's the South Node, what can be highlighted is the decrease in Libra themes: tact, diplomacy, compromise, seeing both viewpoints, not taking sides. Exacerbated by a defensive Mars Cancer.

Also old relationship patterns, past relationships, old flames, what was left unresolved, what still requires closure. Adding Pluto back in Capricorn, what unfinished business still needs attending to and resolving, with Libra - unfinished conflicts in relationships. Past relationship karma could be a very strong theme.

Lastly, the Eclipse is ruled by Venus Scorpio, which is in its detriment and is in a Mars rules sign. It forms a Grand Trine with Mars Cancer, and Saturn Pisces.

So with both Node rulers in their signs of detriment (Venus Scorpio) and fall (Mars Cancer), and Saturn not doing so well in Pisces either, this could be quite an emotionally charged and volatile time. Emotions can get out of hand and run away with itself. Venus Scorpio can add an obsessive, vengeful, uncompromising and even ruthless edge, in getting what it wants. Mars Cancer holding onto long held grudges. Saturn can be about time, karma, and consequences too, there may be an element of chickens coming home to roost.

The Libra Eclipse will have to work hard to get a sense of equilibrium back, and work even harder to resolve any unfinished conflicts.

First thing I notice is the weird, but actually 'exact' T-square between Chiron/[sun/Moon] opposition and Mars in Cancer. The reason I say 'exact' is because Mars is the midpoint of that 'opposition', even though the opposition is out of orb. That pulls it together anyway into an 'exact' T-square.

:mars:=:chiron:/ [:sun:/:moon:]
So Mars is the midpoint of Chiron and the New Moon Eclipse Point

Those kind of 'awkward T-squares create an off balance, out of kilter type of energy. Then we see the apex is to Mars, in it's fall in Cancer in the 3rd? So maybe there will be some difficult conversations between family members and spouses, and mothers and their offspring, delving into past issues that have come back into play? Difficult words that needed to be said?

Mars is also part of the Water Grand Trine with Venus/Saturn. Maybe some who have been estranged try to renew their bonds somehow by trying to rehash old issues? With Venus in Scorpio in the 6th, there could be some who are dealing with health problems wanting to reconnect with family or old friends to clear up past baggage, and move forward.

Also, with Mars Trine Venus and both Trining Saturn---some relationships may be 'rocked' by old secrets coming to the surface, people confessing and coming clean, creating some chaos but it needed to be done.

Your delineations of these astrological events are so profound. You get the big picture and the tiny personal details in context together. I love it!

That's a really good interpretation too, and makes a lot of sense!

Great spot about the Mars being at the Midpoint of the Eclipse and Chiron too, that could be quite loaded indeed.

I have the Eclipse sitting right next to my North Node, actually going through an exact Reversed Node conjunction (South Node exactly on my North Node). Which will be there until early November. It's also my Libra Profection year too.

I'm intrigued by the part you say about renewing and reconnecting of old bonds, you provided some great detail there. I think when the planets shift into Libra, the Sun and then Mercury, that theme will start to draw in.

We have a Sun/Mercury Cazimi aspect right before the Eclipse, 30th September - Superior Conjunction as Mercury is direct, at 8°11' Libra. This will tightly conjunct the South Node, so that may be the trigger point for communications to start.

When we looked at the last lunar eclipse, I spoke of looking to Japan and disputes with China/N Korea [I also mentioned the upcoming eclipse also has ramifications] Bang on the eclipse, a Chinese warship entered Japanese waters for the first time. This coming solar eclipse highlights India with the Astro Carto Graphy map showing the eclipse on the IC. The latest chart we have for India is for when it became a Republic in 1950. This shows the eclipse conjunct Mars and the South Node [unresolved conflict] at the descendant. Uranus in Cancer is conjunct the Indian chart IC and now transits the second house of finance. As I write, Mars is coming to the square of the eclipse degree triggering the chart of the Republic. Their Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now flying to the US for an Indo Pacific summit which includes meetings between Modi, Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Of this summit, Modi says the following; ' I'm eagerly looking forward to engaging with the Indian daispora and important American business leaders, who are the key stakeholders and provide vibrancy to the unique partnership between the oldest democracies of the world'. In many respects this seems a little odd considering that India is part of the BRICS, the organisation originally set up to identify economic investment opportunities between Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. As the foremost geopolitical rival to the G7 countries, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and UAE joined them on January 1st this year, Although Modi is telling the world that his intentions are to help relations in the Indo Pacific, I think this could quite easily wind up the Chinese. With the ongoing border disputes between India and China, will we see more skirmishes in the northern Indian borders? Something I've noticed in regard the Indian Republic chart, is that the Sun is in tight conjunction with the Communist Chinese chart of 1949. The Sun in the Chinese chart at 7Libra47 is very close to the eclipse whilst transiting Uranus is hovering at the IC. Potentially this could open up a can of worms. PS Saturn has now returned to its position of the total solar eclipse of 8th April. Set for India, it shows an MC of 10 Libra 43.
The progressed ascendant in India's chart has just ingressed into Cancer, and applies to the conjunction with Uranus .

A very interesting joint statement from the summit about China.
  1. Strong expression of concern about China’s aggressive behaviour

With an eye on China, the joint statement said, “As Leaders, we are steadfast in our conviction that international law, including respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the maintenance of peace, safety, security and stability in the maritime domain, underpin the sustainable development, and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific. We emphasize the importance of adherence to international law, particularly as reflected in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), to address challenges to the global maritime rules-based order, including with respect to maritime claims. We are seriously concerned about the situation in the East and South China Seas.”
“We continue to express our serious concern about the militarization of disputed features, and coercive and intimidating maneuvers in the South China Sea. We condemn the dangerous use of coast guard and maritime militia vessels, including increasing use of dangerous maneuvers. We also oppose efforts to disrupt other countries’ offshore resource exploitation activities. We reaffirm that maritime disputes must be resolved peacefully and in accordance with international law, as reflected in UNCLOS… We underscore that the 2016 Arbitral Award on the South China Sea is a significant milestone and the basis for peacefully resolving disputes between the parties.”
Of late, China and the Philippines have been involved in minor clashes in the region, stemming from their overlapping claims on the resource-rich, strategically important South China Sea. In 2016, an international tribunal in The Hague ruled in favour of the Philippines by noting China’s aggressive activities in the dispute, although the decision did not award sovereignty to any party.

The Solar Eclipse at 10°04' Libra on October 2nd is a significant astrological event that focuses on balance, relationships, and harmony. Libra, ruled by Venus, emphasizes beauty, justice, and partnership. During this eclipse, themes related to fairness, diplomacy, and compromise may come to the forefront. It's an ideal time to reassess personal relationships, ensuring that both sides are balanced and mutually supportive. The eclipse could also bring revelations about areas in your life where you’ve been compromising too much or where balance needs to be restored.

Additionally, since Libra governs the area of social interactions, this eclipse may push you to consider how you present yourself in social circles and the roles you play within partnerships. As it happens in Libra, a cardinal sign, there may be a sense of urgency to take decisive action to improve your connections. Financial matters and self-worth (given Libra’s association with Venus) could also be impacted, inviting you to reflect on how these elements affect your life’s balance. Keep an eye out for sudden changes, as eclipses often bring unexpected shifts.

Here's a good write up on the Eclipse!

It's a shame AquariusDecan3 from the old Astro forum isn't here, I remember she used to find loads of articles and post them! 🙂
Ι miss her contributions too! We also talked a lot and contributed to most threads. In fact, I almost miss everybody from the old forum.
It is good that some of us meet here, or elsewhere, but a shame that some members have changed their nick names and we have no clue that we are talking to an old friend. Oh, well, everyone has his reasons.

I am not impacted by that eclipse personally. It falls somewhere in my 2nd, so maybe a financial matter is triggered and due to the square to Mars, (unexpected) expenses might loom up. It makes sense, "unexpected expenses" are always to be expected!

Talking of expenses, it is interesting that it falls square my husband's n Venus/Mars, so it could indeed be about "family" expenses, or relationships for my husband and how to maintain peace and harmony. Mars is also square his Mars and that may fuel arguments and resentment, given his Cancer Mars. It is all in his 10th, so a "prominent " issue, something that we become easily aware of, or a matter concerning his career.
We will see.

The eclipse is conjunct my mother-in-law natal Sun (12 :libra:), which is natally debilitated by an opposition to dignified :mars:in Aries. With transiting :mars: triggering the eclipse degree, her dog had to be put to sleep yesterday; she lives alone in sheltered housing and (cruel) current rules will not allow her to get another dog, so I fear this may herald the end of her as the dog was her sole source of company. Very sad.

So with both Node rulers in their signs of detriment (Venus Scorpio) and fall (Mars Cancer), and Saturn not doing so well in Pisces either, this could be quite an emotionally charged and volatile time. It can be added that the upcoming eclipse is chronologically not far from Jupiter's turn into retrograde motion and Saturn's, on the contrary, into direct motion.

This can influence social trends.

Τalking about sites/youtubes on this subject, this is a good one:

My son is in a Moon Profected year and ever since we entered this eclipse season he is rather confused, upset and uncertain, not knowing which direction to follow. It is interesting that in Solar Arc the Moon is at 29th degree+.
He has Moon opp. Sun in his current Solar Return and given that he is a Pisces Sun, t Sun has triggered the Solar Return theme. Also in his SR Uranus is conj. his MC, n Uranus is exactly conj. SR Mars/Venus. Venus the ruler of ASC, Mars of DC, so you get the picture.

He lives with his gf and he has a good day job that offers him an OK life. He is an artist, an actor, though. He has been offered a job to work in a theater as an actor, which implies his leaving this town, moving to another. He has big uncertainties as to his leaving his gf as well as his job, however he is an actor and the ART comes No1 for real artists. He is really excited about getting on the stage to perform in front of a big audience, but also sad and uncertain concerning his gf. Of course, other practical matters like finding a house to stay etc have to be dealt with. I think he will move there, but it won't be easy both financially and for his personal life, as he really loves his gf, they have been together for about 7 years. Of course, financially we will support him, (no wonder the eclipse falls in my 2nd and square my husband's Venus/Mars.)
Currently, t Venus trines his n Sun and he has to come up with a decision very soon.

Another thing is that Pluto is semi-square Saturn in the chart, which is a stressful aspect. As we can all recall, this cycle between the two planets started with the conjunction in Capricorn back in early 2020, in January. We had COVID then starting and I wonder if we may hear something concerning that issue, some new statistics /who made huge money out of the pandemic/ etc. Since we are talking about Pluto and Saturn, things cannot be easy, it may be about an ending, some death, how we deal with some harsh reality.
I hope that in Mundane there are no endings/rifts in relationships between nations, or conflicts.

Also the very reactive Mars in Cardinal Cancer, ready to protect those he loves/cares for/protect it's emotions/feelings-but judging subjectively, not rationally- is square the eclipse, so arguments may be stirred up. Libra may feel rather uncomfortable and although it is very much about well manners and diplomacy so that a relationship keeps going, maybe it all ends up in a disappointment, because in the end Libra cannot always back from an argument and not get what it needs, so it may all come out, remembering all past (South Node eclipse) issues the relationship had, all issues in which it backed off to maintain peace and that could create some explosion, as Mars does not care about niceties once it takes up arms. Of course all that may take the other part by surprise, as he thought that we were in agreement and we held no grudges and may react to protect (himself!). On those grounds, relationships may change, or end.

Take a look at the chart for the Middle Eastern Mandate, which acts as a master chart of conflict of the entire region. I've also enclosed the secondary progressions for 7th October 2023 when Israel was attacked by Hamas, the ascendant of which is the eclipse degree.Middle Eastern Mandate.gifMiddle east mandate progressed.gif

Oh, dear, I hope not another blood shed because of what took place at that attack against Israel. Revenge must have an ending, I guess. Enough is enough! Hamas was terribly wrong then, but children and poor Palestinian civilians are not to blame.
I will have a look at the charts later on.
Thanks 😊

Those are interesting charts, John, thanks for posting.
I am one of those who did not know about the Middle East Mandate. I had to Google to find out the history of the event. It is interesting that the countries signing it had their interests in that area, they promised to help establish their countries, which were inhabited by local tribes back then, but they did not fulfill their promises and neither did they take the will of the locals into any consideration; they were just interested in forcing a leader to rule according to their interests. The locals definitely did not like the whole idea of having a leader imposed on them. The consequences of that Mandate were terrible and resulted into the Holocaust of the Jews, as they were not allowed to find refuge from the Nazis in their home land, then Palestine, also the various conflicts and wars that the particular Mandate was responsible.

Thanks for drawing my attention into the matter-had no clue-

Much of it is depicted in the charts you have posted. We can see the Moon, standing for the people as the apex planet in a T-Square with the Sun and Mars. The Sun, the ruler, in Taurus, a Mandate to fit financial purposes, opposite Mars in Libra, in Detriment, some diplomatic agreement, to enforce law and order, but at 29th, on a critical degree, so rather unstable, implying some change. The Moon definitely suffering under the T-Square, but that was of minor importance to those signing the Mandate. Also interesting is Saturn, the law and order, exactly opposite Uranus, restricting freedoms and rebellious/seeking independence attitudes.

It's interesting that when Hamas attacked Israel had a Sec. Progressed ASC at 10th Libra. Maybe something will be triggered, I hope not, of course.

Am so glad you've taken notice of this, for many who delve into mundane astrology miss [or neglect] these superior charts. I often get frustrated knowing that to post such an important issue will be sadly ignored. Over the last couple of days, Mars has been at the progressed MC of when Hamas attacked. Iran started financially backing Hezbollah in 1982 when the transiting Saturn/Pluto conjunction was hitting the natal Mars of the mandate chart. I'm hoping to have enough time to write of Iran's influence at some point tomorrow, and believe I have some important forecasting material on this; if nothing else it should be good to monitor the veracity of these charts.
