Comprehensive study of ‘time twins’ debunks astrology

LONDON — Scientists have once and for all debunked astrology’s central claim — that our human characteristics are molded by the influence of the sun, moon and planets at the time of our birth — in the most thorough scientific study ever conducted on the subject.

For several decades, researchers tracked more than 2,000 people — most of them born within minutes of each other. According to astrology, the subjects should have had very similar traits.

The babies were originally recruited as part of a medical study begun in London in 1958 into how the circumstances of birth can affect future health. More than 2,000 babies born in early March that year were registered, and their development was monitored at regular intervals.

Researchers looked at more than 100 different characteristics, including occupation, anxiety levels, marital status, aggressiveness, sociability, IQ levels and ability in art, sports, mathematics and reading — all of which astrologers claim can be gauged from birth charts.

The scientists failed to find any evidence of similarities between the “time twins,” however. They reported in the current issue of the Journal of Consciousness Studies: “The test conditions could hardly have been more conducive to success … but the results are uniformly negative.”

Also, other factors involved include consideration of the astrological ramifications of the pre-natal epoch, the bloodline (parent's composite) chart, the conception chart (as Caprising mentioned), and (from a Vedic astrological perspective) the amsa division of the time of the birth, as well as the swara (tattva or elemental) ramifications of the first breath of each child, affecting that child's receptivity or resistance to, the various astrological influences operative at the time of birth.

Perhaps a study of Geoffrey Dean's own chart might produce more answers regarding his own scepticism regarding astrology's reliance???

My son is 3 minutes younger than his female time twin born within 25 yards of him! When he was 18 years old, attending physiotherapy training, I contacted his mother ( alas deceased last year!!!) to ask if we could exchange stories. The hairs on her arms stood on end regarding co-incidences.

Both families spent a holiday at the same resort when the babes were 6 months old,
both families moved in the same year, each to a village equally distant from the major town of the area.
Both fathers worked for companies associated with the oil industry; the one's company bought the raw product from the other's,
Both children were told their intelligence was only fit for lower schooling.
Both junior school teachers intervened on the child's behalf whereby each went on to higher level schooling AND higher education,
both chose professions that dealt with the physical body.

Following his marriage and later birth of his first child I contacted the time twin mother again. I never received a reply .

What WAS noticeable about their personal characters was that my son lived (and still does!) through the harsh natal aspects to give (further)structure to the soft aspect configurations. The girl lived through the soft natal aspects and experienced difficulty with the challenges presented through the harsh aspects.

I'd love to know how her life has since evolved; whether she is also divorced, working to overcome the failure complex, attempting to build a new independent life, as well as whether she has had to deal with the high highs versus low lows of a strenuous Jupiter-Saturn .

Identical twins tend to be very similar, but paternal twins can have very different tastes, preferences, lifestyles, and fates despite being born at the same time in the same location.

... paternal twins can have very different tastes, preferences, lifestyles, and fates despite being born at the same time in the same location.
That is the case with my sisters, but they still both fit their charts that are only 5 minutes apart. With paternal twins it is easy to see them polarize as they each want their own identity.

The more interesting study would be the larger sets.

I didn't read the link, but would like to point out a few astrological principles that these scientists are most likely ignorant of!(Yes scientists display ignorance just like the rest of us) The most obvious missing data would be the birth location of the individuals tested, a different birth location gives one a different chart so the subjects shouldn't be expected to be identical! The next obvious difference would be the subjects conception charts, which acts as a base chart which should be used when looking for problems "in utero", and are part of our astrological makeup. The next factor is the charts of the parents as different parenting styles will bring out (or conversely block) particular personality traits in the child. These three factors alone point to people who have the same birthdate but different birthtimes/locations/parents having their own unique life experiences!
Having said that, astrology isn't a perfect system that gives a 100% accurate answer to our many questions, but is a science that we don't totally understand yet!...."the last frontier" that hasn't been crossed!

Birth location? This guy was na astrologer he knows what he is doing.Whether he was cheating I dont know.Id like to see the study, the data

here is one from 2010:

The Scientific Case against Astrology

Extensive tests, including one by India’s most famous astrophysicist, confirm that astrology is a hoax.

I am not a believer in astrology, but a few things stand out to me in that article:

An astrologer said the serial killer is "bright, charming, and a sense of moral propriety" which is surprisingly common with serial killers. Often serial killers are described as charming, and many are tested to be above average IQ. They often have their own sense of "moral propriety" -- you will hear many making justifications for their killings, some believing fully that it was the right thing to do. That line in itself does not disprove astrology . The more profound thing may be that 95% of participants agreed that it described them well, which may be a complete disproval of astrology, or it may simply be that astrologer gave very generic descriptions, that most renowned astrologers do not.

If they're twins and they have a very similar chart to each other, the twins would dominantly use different parts of their very similar charts to differentate oneself with another, so maybe a twin is more fit to an astrological placement than another twin
