Yes. I have a week to go before I qualify as fully vaccinated, and where I live, masks are still required of everyone in all indoor public spaces, like grocery stores. Nice to see the end in sight, though.

Masks are still required in public in my county (Riverside) and state (CA) until June 15th (said Gov Gavin Newsom) or longer in my county until the 30th. It's said most of the US and also Europe (except France's lockdown lasts until June 30) are abandoning mask mandates. The COVID pandemic can be explained to reached it's final mile or kilometer, but the world can't mess up near the finish line.

I don't put too much into things, but what I do know is that I have not had a cold in a long time ever since masks came about.

I still wear my mask out of respect and comfortability for the people around me

Also, I kind of like wearing a mask anyway. I like to pretend I'm a ninja or an alien with an oxygen mask scouting for food on a new planet (when I'm at a grocery store)

Let me guess you wear masks with a paw print pattern???

There does come a point, though, where there will be some people who'll be so addicted to wearing masks that they will feel uncomfortable taking them off, even when masks will no longer be necessary. Some people, believe it or not, feel more comfortable with a mask on for various reasons, such as vanity reasons (they think they have an ugly face and don't want to show it to the world), or security reasons etc. Dare I say I think there are some people who actually fear that day because of these reasons, so as far as they're concerned, mandatory mask wearing is their paradise.

Countries have been doing it before, but for privacy reasons. Like in Japan or China, or its associated satellites, they wore masks as a sign of respect to not get others sick if they themselves are sick, to avoid breathing in too much pollutants. ANother reason is to maintain their anonymity online because of stalkers and harassers which is a really big issue apparently.

I think we need to be able to differentiate western/eastern countries, and seeing us becoming like them and the push to be more of a collectivist society is scary when there are SOOO many issues with being that type of society. THe more I think about it the more I realize that it's a culture war;
