How Orwellian can you get, Oddity?

Maybe you can explain the sanity behind an ill-conceived war that has now caused over 14 million displaced Ukrainians-- either abroad or within Ukraine, according to the UNHCR. Maybe you can explain the sanity behind tens of thousands killed: young Russian soldiers, Ukrainian soldiers, and Ukrainian civilians.

Maybe you can explain the sanity behind Putin promising safe corridors for people fleeing their homes, only to shell them as refugees try to escape.

Maybe you can explain the sanity behind Putin's determination to press on, with "dumb" bombs constantly hitting residential areas, despite biting economic sanctions, and the exodus of young Russian IT workers.

If this is your idea of sanity, I'll take western leaders' "insanity" any day.

I wonder if Bread/David are even aware of the massacre of the Russian-speaking Ukranians in the eastern area? I mean, fake news doesn't report it, never has even though it's been going on for 8 years now. You can only get the real new from independent media. So I'll post just a little to help them understand what's been habbening.


The armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine started in 2014. Between then and early 2022, it had already killed over 14,000 people. Over the course of eight years, Ukrainian government forces fought Russian-backed separatists for control over much of the two heavily industrialised regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, also known as Donbas. Fierce battles in 2014-2015 ended with one third of the regions' territory, its most urbanised part, occupied by two Russian proxy statelets, the self-described Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. Between September 2014 and February 2015, Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany signed several iterations of the so-called Minsk agreements, which eventually stopped the forward movement of troops and reduced fighting significantly. But the agreements were never implemented, and the fighting transformed into a trench war, with roughly 75,000 troops facing off along a 420-km-long front line cutting through densely populated areas. The war ruined the area's economy and heavy industries, forced millions to relocate and turned the conflict zone into one of the world’s most mine-contaminated areas.

Meanwhile, corrupt Zelenky who takes orders from the US/NATO, is keeping up a conflict that Ukraine has already lost yet he's begging the world for more billions, more weapons, more 'volunteers' to come fight the Russians....while his own Ukranian nazis commit atrocities in the country. Ukranians are more afraid of them than the Russians because they know that if they surrender to Russia, they will be treated humanely & handed over to the Red Cross. But the nazis rape, kill, loot & do what SS beasts do.

The world is slowly coming around to understanding Putin's motives & why he had to act now.

Leaders who are starting the war in their hunger for power and territories are harming their own nation, too. Supporting Putin means supporting agression against Ukraine but it also means aggression against Russians who are dying in this war and risking their safety protesting against war.


Behind all this dirty wars there are personal tragedies. It is painful to observe and witness all this humanitarian and refugee crises from my youth anward: first Bosnian refugees, than Syrians, now Ukrainians. Always the same reason behind. It is simply - sad.

Thanks for your thoughtful post, demetraceres. One wonders what the goddess Ceres/Demeter would have thought of the abuse of Ukraine's breadbasket bounty as a pawn in an unjust war. And with real hunger in African nations dependent on Ukrainian imports in the balance.

Putin offered to release stolen grain shipments and end his naval blockade of Ukraine's ports-- but only if the West capitulated on economic sanctions.

Demeter in ancient Greece was also known as "the law giver." She was concerned with justice. Let's hope her spirit prevails today.

Well, it's not surprising that Putin has so many supporters in this country.

After all, Zelensky's Ukraine unilaterally launched a military assault on Putin's Russia, heavily bombed Moscow and other Russian cities, and drove over a million Russian citizens into exile, with no concern about civilian casualties!

How else would one expect patriotic Americans to feel about such a monstrous act?
