Word on the street is that there was a zombie in China? Apparently it was in a morgue. I’m also seeing people online claiming there are ‘zombies’ in China?

This is the video:

My initial thought to seeing this was, ‘yeah right… Good one.”

Then my brain goes, “what if…?”

I mean, what is the likelihood of a zombie apocalypse? What kind of zombies would they be? Slow walkers? Resident Evil zombies? 28 Days Later zombies?
Slow walkers, like in The Walking Dead I can handle, but please not 28 Days Later zombies. I’m a fast biker and a fast swimmer, but I’ll be at a loss if I have to run fast (even though I’m tall). :sideways:

Also, us Canadians would likely be at a huge disadvantage because all we can really own is a stick without having to jump through a million and one hoops. I remember looking at getting my gun license this past winter and they wanted you to be vaccinated to take the in-person classes.

I think my main concern is how do I bring my cat with me if I’m running (well, I’d be biking) out of the city? I refuse to own a car right now with the gas prices, insurance, and the fact that owning a car is like paying a second rent.
Actually… I think instead of biking, I’d take an inflatable boat down the river that leads to the ocean.

I imagine that if there were a zombie apocalypse, the zombies would be infected with something like rabies.
I have to go invest in an inflatable boat.

Anyone else lowkey have a zombie action plan in case the scenario (nightmare) were ever to arise?

I thought of a solid place to exist other than in the country during a zombie apocalypse: on the side of a cliff.
Make it so that it can be accessed by a human, but if a zombie tries to make you its dinner, it’ll fall to its death, or you’ll be in a position to throw it off of the cliff. Problem solved.

When the pulse stops, most people think a person is dead. But that's ignorance, not everyone is dead at that point. Not yet. Some wake up again, either in freezers, caskets or worse, in a cremation chamber. Fun stuff, isn't it?

As for zombies: Best place to go would be the forest. Lots of trees to keep faster zombies from building up speed to catch you. Not to mention the uneven footing. Cities would be a death trap though, rip urban dwellers.

You'd have to know how to build your own shelter, how to hunt if you want meat, the best way to avoid chiggers, ticks and fleas an a whole lot of other stuff first.

But it'd be better than being in a city.

Whoa, there’s actually quite a few stories of people waking up in morgues.

The forest would be a prime spot to hold out during a zombie apocalypse. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at ground level though. I’d have an elaborate tree house system with wood bridges, etc.

Another option could be living in an isolated boat house anchored far (not too far) from shore. Fresh water is probably the best spot to build and live in a boat house during a zombie apocalypse. I feel wary about this idea though. Zombies would probably be better swimmers than tree climbers.

Better yet, find yourself an abandoned castle that sits on top of an isolated rock in the deep end of a shoreline. Access it by boat and/or a zip line that you can scoot across on with a bike handle bar (or something with a similar shape and strength).
I’d make my zombie melee weapon a part of the handle bar I scoot across the zip line on.

Here’s to hoping that there are no ~special zombies.

The scariest kind of zombies maybe wouldn’t be the zombies from 28 Days Later, now that I think about it. They’d be zombies that can strategize and make decisions. Nope.

Castles sound good. Only problem would be surviving the cold. Fire would be too visible at night from the castle, might draw in bandits or other survivors - could be worse than the zombies themselves. In fiction it often is.

The boat idea reminds me of that old Walking Dead game, where one character by the name of Kenny, swore that finding his fishing boat was the only to way survive the madness. On a lake would be best since storms on the ocean could go knocking the boat upside down. Imagine zombie sharks? Probably just gave a B movie director his next screenplay. 😆

I think living a low-key life in someplace like the Grand Canyon could work. Place is huge. Lots of caves to live in, so long as you keep on the move. Would still have to clean the water there, but at least it's not sea water nor does it have those brain-eating amoebas.

I can imagine stone walls would get very cold during the winter. I don’t think it’d be a good spot unless there’s a group of harmonious personalities. Everyone would likely have to sleep in the same room since coals would be the only way to keep warm and out of sight. Unless everyone had some sort of warm animal fur to sleep in.

Zombie sharks… Let’s hope the animal kingdom remains unaffected by the v!rus.

I’ll be seeking out a place that’s a little too inconvenient for most people to venture to. I’d say the best spot(s) would be about 40 km to 50 km from a city. Even this is too close, but I’m thinking in terms of when gas runs out and everyone is on foot or horse.

I came across the reality of amoebas recently. I want to assume that Canadian fresh water is more immune due to the waters being less warm.
Wait, nope. They can lay dormant in cold waters (https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/publications/p01085.pdf). The amount of times I’ve swam in freshwater and accidentally gotten water up my nose. I wonder if the risk of amoebas can be found in a natal chart. Afflictions between Mars, Saturn and Neptune from within the sixth house and to the Ascendant maybe?

The Grand Canyon looks massive. My biggest concern would be how would one grow crops to sustain themselves in such a dry place? 🌿
